Mapping Specialists, Ltd. awarded IMTA’s Best Award

The Ultimate United States Road atlas from Mapping Specialists, Ltd., in cooperation with HEMA Maps North America Inc. was recently awarded the International Map Trade Association’s (IMTA) awards for IMTA Best in Region (America’s) Award as well as IMTA’s Best Products Gold Award. IMTA’s Best in Region Award is given to the best overall product produced by its membership in the previous year. The winner of this award is then qualified to compete against the winners of the other two world regions for the international award. The Best Products Gold Award is given to the best folded or sheet map, atlas, globe, book, brochure, or data produced by IMTA member in the previous year.
“We had to bring technology and artistry together to build this atlas,” said David Knipfer, president of Mapping Specialists. “To have the atlas received like this by our peers at IMTA is a testament to the dedication of our staff in this difficult project.”
The International Map Trade Association (IMTA) is the foremost worldwide organization of the mapping, geospatial and geographic information industry. IMTA is a voice and resource for individuals, companies, firms and institutions who are engaged directly or indirectly in the production and sale of maps, globes, travel guides, spatial information and related products and materials.

Adam Derringer Awarded Esri Technical Certification
Mapping Specialists, Ltd., is pleased to announce that GIS Manager Adam Derringer has recently been awarded Technical Certification from Esri, the world’s leading developer of geographic information system (GIS) software. Technical Certification from Esri recognizes superior skill levels utilizing Esri’s software, and is available for multiple tracks and levels. Adam was awarded Desktop Professional Certification for ArcGIS, Esri’s premier GIS software for managing data with geographical attributes in planning, management, and business operations.
“We’re very proud of Adam,” said David Knipfer, president of Mapping Specialists. “His accomplishment demonstrates the level of GIS knowledge and professional expertise that Mapping Specialists stands for, and certification allows us to better communicate that expertise to current and potential clients.”
To earn Esri Technical Certification, candidates have to successfully pass an examination that assesses knowledge and skills cultivated through years of experience as a geographic information system professional. Since Esri launched the program within the past year, Adam is among the first to earn this honor.

MSL Wins International Special Achievement in GIS Award

Each year, GIS-industry leader Esri awards an outstanding group of users who have set new standards in the GIS community with their Special Achievement in GIS (SAG) award. Thousands of nominations are made by ESRI employees, and the award winners are hand selected by Jack Dangermond, owner and president of ESRI.
This year Mapping Specialists was honored to be one of the few to recieve a Special Achievement in GIS (SAG) award from ESRI. Candidates included federal, state, and local governments as well as universities, & non-profits from all over the world. Over 300,000 organizations were considered this year for the award.
ESRI is recognizing Mapping Specialists our production of Hema Atlas as well as other high profile cartographic products such as the Earth Atlas, and working directly with ESRI staff to review their exporting, printing, cartography, and a host of other tools to help push GIS into the publishing industry.
